ABOUT LISA ALEXANDER
Consciousness- the canvas upon which each artist ultimately creates. Despite interaction through the inhuman interface of digital media, I aim to find a syntax of light and sound with which to devise the true palette of the soul.

My video-work often employs a colour-drenched, fast-cutting, multi-layered technique, devising original effects and utilising various physiological and yogic devices in design. My soundscapes are similarly complex, experimental and physiologically-motivated.

I braved the low-tech forefront of the digital-art wave of the early nineties, creating Amiga-based graphics and animation, 8mm film-based animation and video-tape-based art and have sought a fluid synthesis with my media since.

While I am officially a digital media artist, my work also encompass fields of stage/costume/production design, drawing, sculpture, drama, writing, radio DJing. See details on Wild Blue Air.

I achieved a BVA at Charles Sturt University, Riverina, as well as a 2nd BVA in Electronic and Temporal Arts at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, where I was subsequently selected for Honours year in which I completed a thesis on the subject of consciousness and a corresponding video-installation, achieving High Distinctions. See Transcripts. I have also studied Digital Media at TAFE and completed the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme.

My work has been exhibited in various experimental video festivals including 'The International Symposium of Electronic Arts', Finland, Videobrasil, Brazil and 'Matinaze', Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Future dreams include working in special effects, completing experimental digital art residencies in New York, Banff et al and travelling the world, capturing my adventures in sight, sound and word.

Cheers,
